An audience favorite at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival, SHALL WE DANCE ? is both a comedy and a love story about a group of ordinary Japanese people and the ballroom dance lessons that bring them to life. The film was written and directed by Masayuki Suo, whose previous film, "Sumo Do, Sumo Don't," won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Film in 1992.
